Building Trajectas.
I built Trajectas to make custom assessment more flexible, connecting capability frameworks with the practical workflows needed to deliver them.
Current status A working platform and a prepared coaching-oriented implementation; completed pilot outcomes are not yet established.
The problem I wanted to work on
I began with curiosity about whether I could build an assessment platform and a desire for more flexibility in customising assessments. The goal was to connect the thinking behind a capability framework with the practical work of administering an assessment and producing useful outputs.
That was my motivation for building, rather than a claim that I had established a new market or proven demand. The project developed into Trajectas, an independent platform built using AI-assisted development.
My responsibility
I built the platform myself using AI-assisted tools. The work covered the content model as well as delivery: capabilities and competency descriptions, linked assessment items, campaigns, participant workflows, partner and client arrangements, and reporting.
The platform needed to support custom and third-party content. That meant the software and the assessment instrument could not be treated as the same thing: a delivery workflow can function while the content it delivers still needs appropriate research and validation.
What I built
Available functionality includes creating and administering custom assessments, managing campaigns, maintaining capability and item libraries, supporting partner/client workflows and producing PDF reports. It also includes comparisons between participants and across time.
Position-description matching connects a role description to relevant capabilities in the library. Research and evidence infrastructure is intended to support validation work when sufficient responses and appropriate research are available. Its existence is not proof that an instrument has been validated.
A broader organisational diagnostic is a direction for development. I am not presenting it as a confirmed complete feature or claiming that the platform has independently established commercial readiness.
A practical example
An early collaborator brought their own intellectual property and capability framework. My contribution went beyond transferring the content into software. We worked together to clarify the concepts and refine the framework, and I challenged parts of it where further definition was needed.
I rewrote the capability descriptions, authored all assessment items for this implementation and put the content onto the platform to prepare delivery. The intended initial use is coaching, with evidence gathering and validation work to follow.
The collaborator’s identity and proprietary content are kept private here. This is an early collaborative implementation, not a claim of a proven customer base or completed pilot outcomes.
Current status and learning
The result so far is a substantial self-built platform and an early assessment implementation prepared with a collaborator. Completed pilot use, measured customer outcomes, repeat adoption and validation results have not yet been established.
The content work has been especially instructive: software implementation exposes where a concept or item description is ambiguous. Moving between framework design, individual items and delivery has been an important part of the work. The next stage is to learn from actual use and collect evidence, rather than assume that functional software establishes assessment quality.
